When Dr. John E. Upledger developed CranioSacral Therapy (CST), he did so with a vision—to make the world “a touch better.” He brought together years of hands-on clinical experience, medical knowledge, and compassionate care to create a method that supports the body’s natural healing process. While these books share his original teachings, the field has continued to grow and evolve since they were first written.

Today, the Upledger Institute International (UII) carries his work forward, integrating new research and scientific insights into how CST works—especially how the body’s natural rhythms help restore balance and well-being. The essence of Dr. Upledger’s approach remains the same, but we now have an even deeper understanding of the body’s intelligence and the way CST interacts with it.

Dr. John E. Upledger symbolically represented the CranioSacral System through this “tree model,” with the roots reflecting physical mechanics and the trunk and canopy expressing the integrated unity of body, mind, and spirit.
